The reason for this event is to bring awareness of Hepatitis C to the community, as well as inform and educate our community of the signs, and treatments available for Hepatitis C. Currently we have more than 200 Hepatitis C patients in our database that are not receiving treatment. The funds will be applied towards our uninsured and underinsured patients that need financial assistance for treatment and medication.
Hepatitis C is more common than most people know and the rate of acute Hepatitis C cases in Tennessee has more than tripled in the last seven years, and the steadily increasing number of cases may only represent "the tip of the iceberg" of the state's Hepatitis C epidemic, according to TDH Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH. "In addition to reported cases of acute Hepatitis C it is estimated that more than 100,000 Tennesseans may be living with chronic Hepatitis C and not know it," Dreyzehner said. "Many people have Hepatitis C for years, not realizing it, while the viral infection slowly destroys their livers."
We here at ProHealth are in need of your help to promote and fund our Hepatitis C program for our uninsured and underinsured patients. There are three levels of corporate levels of sponsorship packages.
